Why Nucube

To bring the joy and purity of your own music library, uncluttered by ads, promotions, suggestions and millions of artists and songs in your feed and search. And to bring it back in a modern app.

What do I need?

Only one requirement: a UPnP/DLNA media server sharing your music files on your local network. Popular options: Plex, MinimServer, Asset, MiniDLNA, Jellyfin.

What about streaming to my Hi-Fi?

This is optional, as Nucube support playback on your device. To stream you need a UPnP renderer on your LAN

Do I need to configure Nucube?

No. It will automatically find the DLNA libraries and the UPnP renderers if they are available on the LAN

Does Nucube integrates with popular music streaming services?

No. Nucube is built for your personal music library, not streaming services. We might explore optional integrations in the future if there’s strong demand, but our focus is ownership, not rental.

Is it free?

During beta, yes. Pricing will be announced for general release. It will not be expensive but there is no such thing as a free lunch.

DLNA and UPnP are too complicated for me.

How do I verify the authenticity of the app?

To ensure you are running the genuine Nucube app, we sign all our releases.

  • Linux: We provide detached GPG signatures (.asc files). You can verify them using our public PGP key: gpg --import nucube.pgp && gpg --verify nucube.deb.asc nucube.deb
  • Windows & Updates: Authenticity is cryptographically verified by Tauri’s Minisign updater. The app automatically validates every update using the public key bundled in the binary.

You can find more details about our security and encryption keys in our security.txt.
